Three Wishes for a Meaningful Life centres around the use of morning aspirations for happier days and more meaningful living. It was created by Denise Flora, author of the Ready, Set, Happy 16G children’s resource, as a tool to integrate the 16 Guidelines into a daily practice.
Each morning, three wishes are made. The first wish is made for the world. What would it be like if when you walked out into the world, if everyone embodied Patience (or whichever guideline you are working with that day). What would it be like to live in such an environment? So the first wish is: may each person get the benefits of living in an environment like that.
The second wish concerns the individual practitioner. What would it be like for each person if they were able to embody patience, as part of their personality? So the second wish is: may each person get the benefits of practicing that particular positive quality today.
The third wish concerns oneself. For example, can I notice when I'm impatient today? What would it feel like to embody patience and never be impatient anymore? So the third wish is: What baby steps can I take today to strengthen that particular quality in myself?
