Building Balanced Empathy: An introduction and exploration in Florida

Would you benefit from developing closer, more nurturing relationships with family, friends and your community?

Are you interested in developing a deeper understanding of how others experience the world and their emotions?

How would your daily life improve, at work and at home, if you were able to respond others in a way that’s beneficial to them and to you?

Do you need to develop your own personal resilience and prevent emotional burn out?

During this dynamic and practical workshop you’ll explore not only how you experience and view the world but also how you relate to others in given situations – and how the choices we make each day can have a profound and wide-reaching impact.

The workshop offers tools and techniques to help practice what we learn so that new ways become habits for us.

The workshop will help you…

Improve ability to develop positive relationships in the family, workplace, or community.

Learn how to skilfully balance your responses and behaviours

Become more aware of and better able to work with thoughts, emotions and feelings.

Expect to be active. If you want to achieve true transformation you’ll need to be committed to fully engaging with the wide range of learning materials and practices throughout the day.

There will be audio practices, reflections, and practical exercises; all contributing to a truly experiential learning experience.

It was developed by an international team with academic-level expertise in Buddhism, Western philosophy and psychology, contemporary science and experiential learning methodology

The Facilitator:

Don Handrickr, Don has been a teacher of Buddhism since 2005, and is currently the resident teacher for half of each year at Thubten Norbu Ling, the FPMT center in Santa Fe, New Mexico. He is also a touring teacher for the other six months, visiting centers in North America and Europe. Don is an accredited Level 1 facilitator for The a.r.t. of Fulfilment delivering workshops in English.

His career as a teacher began shortly after completing the FPMT’s Masters Programme, a seven-year intensive residential study program held at Lama Tzong Khapa Institute in Italy.

In 2014, Don was invited to participate in an advisory capacity with the development of the program that would become The a.r.t. of Fulfilment. Having an interest in participating in secular education, he assisted with that task and then attended the training conducted for the first group of facilitators that was held in the UK in 2016.
